Jesus, Race & You Ministries, Inc    Our vision is the facilitation of racial reconciliation and the building of inclusive community within the church.  Our mission is to equip the church to enfold and embrace racial diversity through dialogue and action planning, towards a greater understanding on becoming a beloved community of multiracial inclusion.   We lead this mission in a four-fold ministry of 1) Facilitated Conversations, 2) Diversity Sundays, 3) Strategic Planning, and 4) Community of Practice.

Facilitated Conversations
Imagine the power expressed by authentic faith, and the complete freedom of personal spirituality when the fear-filled affects of the American problem of race are removed. The Holy Spirit can transform us into the image of Christ through the renewal of our minds. Learning how to transcend the divisive constraints of race, to embrace brothers and sisters in shared community regardless of race or color is what Jesus Christ taught and modeled.  This is an internal family dialogue by Christians, for Christians, about racial inclusion in the church.

Diversity Sundays
The 11:00 hour every Sunday morning is considered the most segregated hour in American. You can help begin to change this reality. We encourage celebrating the first Sunday of every month as Diversity Sunday.

A. Find a partner and use the first Sunday of every month as an opportunity to visit a local congregation that is of a different predominate race or color than the one you currently attend.

B. Take note of your experience, congregational responses, reactions, behavioral themes

C. Consider this as a multiple-month, a multiple-year adventure. Please use the questions below to debrief with yourself and others about your experience. Especially, please send your answers and testimonies back to Jesus Race & You Ministries via our on-line survey. We want to learn from you!

Strategic Planning

Facilitate and influence change at the interpersonal and structural level.  Deepening reconciling relationships between congregations.  Support denominations in their embrace of racial reconciliation.  What are the layers that are getting in the way of deepening our relationships?  How can we foster stakeholders and owernship of the vision and enhance capacity for being intentional and making it practical?  Where are the appropriate levels of integratio of racial reconciliation in the life of the church as a priority?

Community of Practice

There are many others like yourself who are asking or have answered the same question. Why not belong to a network of those can help increase your understanding, competency and resources? Let us sit and reason together. Dialogue (thinking and listening together), is the road to change and transformation… Jesus, Race & You: A Community of Practice – a monthly meeting of Washtenaw County and Detroit Metropolitan area leaders working to study, exchange, develop and enhance the practice of racial reconciliation within their respective congregations (coming soon). What challenges do you face in expressing these truths in your personal relationships? How can these challenges be overcome? What have you learned that can help others? How can you facilitate or support your congregation's efforts towards becoming a beloved community of multiracial inclusion?
